Lync 2013 SQL Reporting Services error

y0av. With a zero.

I was installing Lync 2013 Monitoring Server in a rather secured environment when I got this error trying to view Monitoring reports:

Reporting Services Error

An error occurred in the HTTP Runtime object for application domain ReportServer_<Monitoring DB Name>_0-1-130536282297714254. Most likely, the HTTP request contains an unsupported verb or invalid syntax.”

Most likely, it has nothing to do with the error… I was able to access SRS management and go all the way to the Lync Monitoring Homepage – that’s when the error appeared again. That pointed that SRS are working fine, but the Lync Monitoring reports are causing some issues.
I tried redeploying the reports – same error.

It then hit me that a long time ago I was working with another customer at a secured environment where we had to bypass some security restrictions to get things working.
That led me to this article, that explains that if you have the following…

Event ID 41025 – Conferencing Edge Server – shows up every minute / Två event ID dyker upp varje minut

Event ID 41025 – Conferencing Edge Server

Event ID 41026 saying “No connectivity with any of Web Conferencing Edge Servers. External Lync clients cannot use Web Conferencing modality.”
This was going on forever. The next second after the error it told me that the connection was up and working fine again.

The only evidence of wrong doing was the Event Log on the Front End Server. The log was looping through Event ID 41025 and 41026 every minute !

The problem

Event ID 41024 – Lost connection to all Web Conferencing Edge Services
Event ID 41024 – Lost connection to the Web Conferencing Edge Server
Event ID 41025 – Connection to the Web Conferencing Edge Server has been restored

The solution was simple

Disable IPv6, in the registry, not in the control panel

Lync Server 2013 on Windows Server 2012 R2

Lync Server 2013 on Windows Server 2012 R2 / How to have Lync running on Windows Server 2012 R2

Takk for hintet Trond on his blog: http://trogjels.wordpress.com/2013/12/02/lync-2013-on-windows-server-2012-r2

From <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2901554/en-us> How to have Lync running on Windows Server 2012 R2

============================================
To work around this problem, set the Schannel registry key to a value of 0x0002 on all computers that are hosting Lync Server 2013 Front End servers. This change disables Session Ticket TLS Optimization in the system.

Notes

You can disable this value without compromising the security of the system. The system will revert to handling TLS sessions exactly like the sessions were negotiated in earlier Windows Server operating systems.

  • Lync Server 2013 is supported by Windows Server 2012 R2 when this registry workaround is performed.

Click Start, type regedit in the Start search box, and then click regedit.exe in the results list.
Locate the following registry subkey:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\Schannel

Right-click Schannel, and then click New DWORD (32-bit) value.

  1. Type EnableSessionTicket, then press Enter.
  2. Right-click EnableSessionTicket, and then click Modify.
  3. Change the existing value to 2, and then press Enter.
  4. Exit Registry editor.
  5. Open the Lync Server Management Shell.
  6. Run the following Lync Server PowerShell commands in the given order:
    Stop-CsWindowService
    Start-CsWindowsService

Summary:

1. Add .Net 3.5 Extensibility and register path to source package for Server 2012 Source media/Sources/sxs

2. Do the SSL-registry change.

3. Uppdate Lync server with the latest Lync update from KB http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/lync/dn146015.aspx
